| Desperate For Magic, Chambers’
one man show “tour de force,” was written with a grant from
the Ingram Foundation. Billed as “a Magical Mystery Tour through
Generation X,” Desperate opened at the Looby Theatre
in Nashville, TN. After the Nashville production, Chambers hired Betsy Sullenger (who would soon be his wife) to redirect the play. Using her sharp eye and amazing ability to handle Chambers, Betsy turned this marvelous sixteen-character play into an award winner. Debuting the new production at the Burbank Little Theatre in California, the tour then went to New Stage in Mississippi, then the Dark Horse Theatre, and on to the Blue Barn Theatre in Omaha. Finally happy with the results, Desperate For Magic opened in Los Angeles where it was presented with a Backstage West Garland Award. Here are some of the reviews for Chambers and the play: “Star shines in Desperate For Magic! The dude
is worthy! Way!!!” |
