| PROGRAMS AVAILABLE: Grades: K-12, Teachers, Librarians, Staff Training, and Educator Conferences. Chambers also enjoys mixed groups of adults and children and always gears his presentations to the specific audience. Length: Varies according to the age. But generally 45 minutes to an hour with questions. Writing workshops and programs for teachers are about an hour. Audience Size: Chambers has entertained all sizes of groups in the past twenty years, from a single classroom to assembly groups with thousands of kids! But usually school visits are groups between 150 and 200. Remember, Chambers doesn’t charge extra per presentation, so he would prefer smaller groups to larger ones. It’s much better to have three workshops with 200 people than one with 600 kids. He is flexible and attempts to serve the school’s needs. For his writing workshops, groups of one or two classes at a time allow better opportunities for students to receive individual attention. Assemblies: Presentations are modified in content and detail, according to the group’s age, but they always include: Oral Language Skills, “Reach for the stars:” Building oral language presentation skills, and the confidence to speak in front of a group can be challenging for parents and teachers of young students. The key to engaging them in the process is finding interesting material specific to their lives. Material that speaks to them about what they know. Chambers gives kids tools for overcoming their fears that often stand in their way of happiness and success. His series of books, called Hollywood 101, are filled with monologues and scenes that represent a moment in the lives of today’s kids. His books are snappy, funny, poignant, yet express emotions that are totally age appropriate for kids to get engaged. They can’t help it. They want to perform. And in performing, they improve their oral language and their presentation skills. You always get more than an author visit from Chambers Stevens. His enthusiasm is infectious. And helps kids “Reach” for the stars. Writers' Workshop: One hour, for up to 125 children, exploring book writing as well as how writers get ideas. The writer workshop is interactive --with plenty of time for Q&A. Some schools wish to reward their very best students with an opportunity to work with a professional author. Often kids who have previously shown little interest start writing passionately after hearing Chambers. His inspiring workshops leave students hungry to write their own books. A WORD FROM CHAMBERS STEVENS: In the last couple of years I have done over 100 workshops and lectures in thirty states. Inspiring kids to believe in themselves and live up to their full potential is my life’s goal. Many kids today have a big problem communicating. I love giving them the simple tools that help them make their ideas heard. It’s so fun watching their amazement as they do something only seconds ago they thought was impossible. Presentation Set-up/Equipment Needs: A microphone (a wireless lavaliere microphone works the best). A table (approximately three feet by five feet) for display, etc. For the Writers' Workshop: Students should bring paper, pencil, and an excitement for writing. “Chambers Stevens presented a lively acting workshop for kids. His presentation was highly motivational. Even the children who were shy, were eager to participate by the end.” Tooraj Kavoussi, Lincoln Center-Manhattan “Chambers Stevens has brought theatre to life for me. As an author and acting coach in California, he has a special abiltity to make people feel good about themselves. I met him at an arts camp and although I didn’t know him for very long, making his acquaintance has made a lasting impression on me. Boosted my confidence and helped me to realize that it’s okay to dream.” Caroline Kapo - Certificate from Marshall University of Mentorship Autographing Information: Chambers is always happy to personalize and sign his books for children or teachers who buy them, or for those who already own them.
